HICARE flying visit to Arab Health 2014, Dubai, January 27-30, 2014
Every year in January Dubai is hosting the world’s second largest medical trade fair – Arab Health. At this year’s trade show the HICARE consortium used the opportunity for a “piggyback” presentation at the booths of the project partners BioCon Valley and Steripower.

HICARE at the 9th National Sector Conference on Health Economy, July 10-11, 2013
More than 600 specialists from politics, business, and science met in Rostock at the 9th National Sector Conference. HICARE to the opportunity to present its activities along with the project partners Jalomed, Pfizer, Sanofi and Steripower. The latter one incited Federal Health Minister Daniel Bahr to a quick visit (see image to the right).

2nd Berlin Hygiene Symposium, Berlin, May 16, 2013
The Initiative Infektionsschutz (Infection Prevention Initiative) held its 2nd Berlin Hygiene Symposium on May 16th, 2013. Topics ranged from the discussions of legal aspects of hygiene management to practical hygiene workshops. In his presentation Prof. Axel Kramer used the opportunity to point out the positive development in hygiene legislation in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the HICARE project.

7th Rostock Day of Hygiene
The 7th Rostock Day of Hygiene provided practical information on hospital hygiene and infection protection. Amongst others, Prof. Andreas Podbielski, head of the Institute of Medical Microbiology, Virology, and Hygiene (IMIKRO) outlined the staged hygiene concept the Rostock University Medicine is successfully applying when dealing with highly infective pathogens. Additional topics included staff-related nosocomial infections and correct handling of lab samples. The presentations will be available on the »IMIKRO website.

HICARE/Baltic Amber Workshop “Diagnostics and Innovations in MRO Management” Tampere, November 21, 2012
Russia, Denmark, Finland, Germany – the participants of the HICARE/Baltic Amber workshop “Diagnostics and Innovations in MRO Management” at the ScanBalt Forum (Tampere, Finland, November 20-23, 2012) resembled the scope the annual meeting of Northern Europe’s biotech and health economy. Amongst others the director of the Smolensk State Medical Academy, Prof. Roman Kozlov, Dr. Ulrik Kähler Olesen of Rigshospitalet Copenhagen, Dr. Janne O. Koskinen of the Finnish diagnostics company ArcDia International Oy Ltd, as well as Prof. Rainer Bader, Rostock University Medicine, and Dr. Katrin Kühn, Greifswald University Medicine, discussed innovations in MRO management.

HICARE-Symposium 2012 Rostock, November 11-13, 2012
More than 120 participants joined a successful and inspiring project meeting in Rostock in the beginning of November. Two plenary sessions and six workshops offered the opportunity to present and discussed the project status. In addition the meetings of the advisory boards took place. The Symposium presentations can be downloaded from the HICARE website or, respectively, from our project portal.
The next opportunity for will be the HICARE Symposium 2013, taking place in Stralsund November 3-5, 2013.

July 2012: HICARE at the 8th National Sector Conference Health Economy, Rostock
For the eighth time now health economy experts met in Rostock at the National Sector Conference on Health Economy. At the invitation of the State Government of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern more than 600 representatives from politics, economy, and science discussed in the context of the conference motto “Tangible health - Aspects of Trans-sectoral cooperation”. Again, the HICARE network was present with a joint presentation. The project partners, amongst them ICNet, Pfizer, Sanofi, and Steripower, informed about their project activities and their product portfolios..

September 2011: HICARE/Baltic Amber-Workshop at ScanBalt Forum 2011
For ten years now the ScanBalt initiative promotes the networking of existing life science networks in the Baltic Sea region and beyond. The goal: turning Northern Europe into a globally competitive meta bio region. This anniversary conference was held at Heringsdorf on the German isle of Usedom, September 21st – 24th, 2011. The program offered numerous workshops, amongst others dealing with the perspectives of a Baltic Sea Health region.

June 2011: HICARE Stand at the 7th National Conference on Health Economy
About 650 national and international participants met at the 7th National Conference on Health Economy to discuss the conference topic “Health economy as pathfinder for health care” in Rostock, Germany June 27th-28th. As part of a thematic exhibition, HICARE informed the visitors about the project aims and status. Partners involved like Aqua free, Roche Diagnostics, Sanofi-Aventis, and STERIPOWER used the opportunity to present their product portfolios and their project activities.

May 2011: Clean Hands – Less Infections
Improved hand hygiene plays a critical role in the fight against dangerous hospital acquired infections. Greifswald University Medicine leads by example: On Monday, May 16h 2011 Professor Zygmunt Marek, the clinic’s medical director, and Axel Kramer, managing director of the institute for hygiene and environmental medicine at the University Greifswald, will inaugurate hand disinfection units for public use in the clinic’s entrance area and at the emergency ward.

April 2011: Signing the HICARE Memorandum
The HICARE project kick-off on April 6th – 7th, 2011 in Greifswald served as an apt setting for signing the HICARE memorandum. The document, bearing the signatures of all project partners, outlines fields of activity and project aims.

April 2011: HICARE-Kick-off-Workshop
The opening event at Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg in Greifswald on April 6th - 7th, 2011 marks the official starting point of the project “HICARE – Action alliance against multi-resistant bacteria, Health region Baltic Sea coast”. The first day offered a public lecture program, the second day was reserved for project internal workshop meetings.
