HICARE – Gesundheitsregion Ostseeküste - Health Region Baltic Sea Coast The health region Baltic Sea Coast takes under the name HICARE [Health, Innovative Care and Regional Economy] part in the second application round of the BMBF (Federal Ministry of Education and Research) competition „health regions of the future“.
The region wants to establish itself as a model region for Germany to show how an alliance against the ever growing problem of the spread of multi-resistant pathogens can be formed and implemented. Our concept reaches far beyond a loose network of stakeholders, as already established in many regions in Germany, but is rather aimed to include the entire value chain from fundamental research over clinical trials and hygiene intervention activities through to health economic evaluations and integration in the German health care system.
We pursue a cross-sectional, multicenter implementation of hygienic standards for the management of multi-resistant pathogens based on existing legal regulations and the philosophy of the “Greifswald Model” of infection control in the health region to show the feasibility and efficiency. This is encouraged by narrow cooperation with international professional societies and experts and stakeholders of the health economy.
Besides, a key priority is to empower the regions the potential for innovations. In several research and development projects, innovative trans-sectoral approaches, products and services designed, are to be tested in the health region, effects are to be evaluated and transferred into practice on a regional and national level. $$Back$$
